A Weekend of Firsts!
Elizabeth had a busy weekend, the circus, the beach, but the big deal of the weekend was her Swim Meet! Elizabeth swam in breast stroke and the freestyle races; she was mad because she wanted to swim in the butterfly race. I think she only wanted to do the butterfly race because she LOVES butteflies. But she did quite well at the other two races. It was a swim meet where they're focused on beating one's own best time, not racing against each other. But she swam the length of the pool in a good time! She swam the freestyle lap in 46.37 seconds!
The other exciting thing was that we were at the beach club and there's a sign that says "No Diving" along with a bunch of other things. Elizabeth was able to independently sound it out and say, "Hey, that says no diving!" She can usually read words like go, no, stop, yes, mom, cat.. but to sound out a longer word was a first! And then she came back and wrote her first word: "No." See above.
My Little Sweetheart
This is a story told to me by Zayn's mother:
Zayn arrived at school and the seats at the play-do table were full; he wanted to join the table that only fit four. No one olse was in the classroom yet and so he was forced to play by himself on the floor. Elizabeth was in a coveted spot at the table and she said "I don't want Zayn to play by himself and so I'm not going to do play-do anymore. He's my friend." She joined him on the floor. I've never been prouder ;-)
Halloween
She stated for the past six months: "I'm going to be a pirate!" But on game day, she rejected the pirate costume and became a "ballerina, fairy butterfly." SHe was happy because when her friends from school arrived for Trick or Treating they were also fairies!
